Towards the end of November, the arrival of Advent marks the beginning of an especially beautiful time of year.
Advent is a period of preparation, extending over four Sundays, before Christmas and refers to the coming of Christ, to our celebration of Christs birth at Christmas.

Advent in Kaposvár has much to offer: the series of events beginning with Christmas Light Switch-on Ceremonies and lasting until Christmas, offers a wide range of outdoor programmes that create a real Christmassy feeling on the Kossuth square.

The wooden carved figures of the Nativity Play, the open-air Barn Theatre, the city’s Christmas tree all contribute to the special atmosphere of the holiday. Traditions form the core of this event series and local groups and artists perform almost every day on the main square of the city. Representatives of the local churches are also strongly involved in the Advent festivities.

A stroll through Kaposvár during Advent season is a truly memorable experience, especially when snowing. As you do so, you simply have to pay a visit to the Christmas market, which is held on the main street and the main square. Local craftsmen sell their products and you can find presents for every member of your family.
