The traditional Honey Festival in mid-September takes place in the main square. Promoting the highest quality honey and wax products with a national conference on honey and beekeeping, lecture convention, workshops and beekeeping equipment trade show.
Organized for the 16th time in 2023, the festival was launched to promote health benefits of honey & honey products, introduce the public to the wide variety and types of honey produced in the Zselic region.
A regional meeting of beekeepers, honey-infused delicacies, honey and apiculture products on sale are only some of the programmes that will be accompanied by live music productions in Kossuth Square, right in the heart of Kaposvár.
There is honey tasting available with well-known and lesser known flavours including acacia, rape, linden, sunflower, chestnut and mixed flower honey – you are welcome to compare flavours which is a great opportunity as honey is produced naturally, so its flavour and colour differ every year. It mostly depends on the weather and of course on the plant but same kind of flower from a distant region can make a difference to the flavour as well.
The event of the Zselic Beekeepers’ Association and the Honey Knights Order, the main organisers also stage an art and craft fair with representatives of various local crafts and provide entertainment for the public through live music and outdoor concerts.
